MONDAY HOPPING
Monday is usually a day to drift back into your weekly routine!
Most people dread this lovely morning but Hiro and I take it as an opportunity to go for a short afternoon ride! I usually have work until 11:30 allowing me to start riding from 12sharp. Hiro is a hairdresser most hair stuidos are closed on Monday! I then have to go back to work from 2:30 until 10pm is when I finish teaching English!
So, we have about a 2hour window to rip it up! Time is short so we went to a very local mountaian which has some cool sections making for a perfect afternoon!

It rained a lot last week, so our favourite trail was in very bad conditions, bur, nevertheless, we went for a ride today in three diferent trails, but I could only record one, because, I still don't have my GOPRO :(

The guy in front of me rode this trail for the first time, so, the crashes he had are somewhat understandable!!! Hahahaha!!!!

Saturdays are always busy!
As was last saturday the 27 of november! 2010.
However after a morning of hard work and busy life all four of us were able to gather together at Laputa FR trial around 2pm for some cool end of Autumn into Winter riding!
The trail was really wet and gooey but we all sucked it up and had a ball!

Happy Thanks Giving!

Here in Japan there is no holiday celebrating Thanks Giving so the family and I took our a little early! Yesterday November 24th was a holiday here in Japan so we had a wonderful Holiday feast!

In the morning the kids and I went for a 2 hour ride to Sarahs elementary school. There as the kids played and had fun I entertained myself with some school ground riding. I had not noticed until later but I had some honey and peanut butter on my camera from breakfast! That why its so blurry!

After our pleasent ride we returned home for a delicious lunch of some chicken and vegetable stew my beautiful wife had made. She also baked some fresh whole weat rolls that blended well with the soup!



Playing and having fun is what Thanks Giving is for us!
I prepared a fresh apple pie,

While Hiroyo took care of the bird!
Here in Japan we are unable to purchase Turkey so insteat every year we rost a full Chicken. It always comes out wonderful and this year it was beautiful!

Every 2nd Wednesday morning of the month I have some freetime!
This week so did some mates so we headed up to Koshyo mountain for some DH riding! There will be a DH race here in 3 weeks so as everyone was practicing the DH course I found some cool FR lines to ride and have fun!
The second section is at the bottom of the mountain and Mr.Osato and I were riding in pairs! He was on his brandnew transition Bank and I was on my Rune!
I had to leave early as I had work from the afternoon but I was able to ride hard from 9am to 12:30!!

No bikes Sorry!
This was from last Sunday the 14th of November.
A ceremony for young kids who are 3,5 and 7 years of age.
They dress up in traditionl Kimono and head off to the local shrine to be blessed. Once there is short but fun! The Bhuddist monk prays for the children to be healthy and free of harm. With modern science and western medicine its not as necessary as it once was believed, however its a glorious day for the kids and parents as well.

Freeride Tuesday

Tuesday is usually a day full of work and busy meetings.
However I usually have 4hours free on Tuesdays, I teach 2-3 hours in the morning finishing at 12pm. Then I start classes at 4pm so I have  a little leeway to play and ride!
Just so happens Hiro has every 3rd Tuesday off of work!
So Our adventure was off to Ajimi!!
Its a steep twisty trail with a nice grade making for a super fun flowy DH. Its about 8min of pure flow!!!

Yesterday was beautiful day!
It was cold in the morning about 10degrees but warmed up to 15 in the afternoon! Hiro and I took off for ajimi to ride and have a wonderful time!
the trail was dry and rocky!!
I was on my double and he was on his hardtal, this trail is very rocky so its very fun on short travel bikes but of course bigger travel is much nicer!

Highland Mountain Bike Park

My highlight of the summer of 2010 was the visit to Highland Mountain Bike Park in Northfield, New Hampshire, USA on July 15th. The GoPro was on my helmet and the second time I pushed the button I thought it was filming but it wasn't. So I had extremely little footage from the Meadow's End trail to work with. I only had one day at that bike park, we also took a downhill lesson with a coach and watched the Claymore Challenge qualifying in the afternoon. I edited the vid on my friends' netbook the same night. So I guess I could have done better, but not under the circumstances and there wasn't any second chance.

My trusty TBC Double!

I was riding this bike with a fox air in the rear for the last year and just hating it every ride. The Fox is super stiff with a nice feeling rebound( sounds good right) but it bottoms out like crazy.
So, I got a new roco air with lockout! I dont use the lock out but the shock is a world of difference. The sag and first stroke is super smooth, like a coil. Then the shock gets progressivly stiffer through its travel just like a coil. The best part no harsh bottoming! Its holds its composure under my heavy ass!!!! I ride this little bike very hard and have a new shock like the rocco has givin me the confidence to rip hard. I alway felt very uncomfortable on the fox and it never gave me the confidence to go big because it bottoms out like a bomb going off,BOOOOm!!!!
The new roco is smooth and plush, wow!! off of jumps and drops there is no sound, just a progressive stroke!!

The Sauerland is a popular area for mountain biking. The first picture shows a view from the Bruchhauser Steine, located between Winterberg and Willingen. The second picture was taken at Willingen, where I did the freeride trail on Birgit's Kona Stinky. Both pictures are from 2006.

Everyday is a new day!

Some are busy and full of work, others are free and lazy.

When time allows I enjoy a sunny morning with my kids or in the mountains.

Today my kids Sarah age 7 Jax age 4 and I  headed off to a local park here in Japan.

While they were playing and having fun I used the surroundings the park had to have fun.

Jumps drops and little natural trails fill this park.

They had a good time, I had a good time and together we made the mornign a wonderful experience.

Then I went to work!!

Winter Trophy

 Here in Germany we have the Winter Trophy to keep mountain bikers fit during the winter months. My wife and I belong to a team of five and here you can see our progress:



Yes, the name of the team is Weaselpeople and you get one point for every 15 minutes of riding.

Yesterday was sunday here in Japan so 5 other guys and myself gatherd together for an epic big mountan adventure!!
This mountain is very very steep making it lots of fun for me and a little scarry for others!
We had some big crasheses but no big injuries! There were 3 guys that had never been on this trail as well!
