Death of a Yellow Frame

I witnessed the final ride and the last day of the yellow Guess bike I had given to Gunnar one year ago. The frame cracked at the damper mount on the down tube. After eleven years the Guess USA 2001 found a decent end. I am glad I saw the crack when I took a closer look at the frame. Gunnar's new bike is a Specialized Big Hit from 2009, which will help him to become a better freerider and downhiller.

Im out!

Last Saturday after finishing building my GT, I went for a light XC ride.
My plan was a nice 2 hour round trip to a local trial.
I was doing great and enjoying the I-drives superb bobbles ability to put the power down and climb.

Then it was time for the DH!
The trail was extremely rocky due from heavy erosion after the monsoons hit us this early July.
About mid way down the trail I was laying on my back with dust in my month, torn shorts, a broken belt and an unbelievable pain in my right shoulder.

I was taken out by the trail.
My front tire falling in a hole ended up throwing my 2-3 metes down the steep trial.
In fact I have no recollection of anything bad happening.
I was just down.

I tumbled through the air landing on my right shoulder.
The impact pushed my shoulder out the front of the socket breaking my Scapular Coracoid Process!

Im in terrible pain and wont be back for a while.

Please Ride hard and enjoy the summer!

I wish everyone the best!

The Marin and the Penmachno Trails

During our week in North Wales we stayed at Betws-y-Coed, right between the Penmachno trail and the Marin, which was the first purpose-built MTB trail in the UK. Having ridden the complete Marin trail in 2009 we knew our way around and could take a pick of the best sections this time. The Penmachno was a challenge we still had to face, so we spent six hours there enjoying the singletrack and the scenery.

Santa Maria Bike Trip...

This past weekend, me and my wife decided to take a trip to the near island "Santa Maria"...

Having heard that they had some cool trails there, I decided to take my new FR rig to test them!

They are not perfect FR trails, more All Mountain/Enduro ones...still...I had a true blast!

Trapped

The master of disaster, Hiro and I went for a ride.
Tuesday is usually a normal mundane work day for most and well for myself included.
However I have a small window of opportunity to ride for just 2 hours.
After rushing home from 4 hours of teaching English to a bunch of enthusiastic school kids,

I gobbled some luch and headed out to meet Hiro.
We started our journey  from my door step and went out the same trail as last week (finger hole)
to venture through the back half of the trial.

Well, just as we got to the top and started playing around with camera angles a nice cool breeze settled in.
It was amazing feeling the coolness through the summer heat.
Just then a horrendous noise appeared, it sounded like a truck was roaring down upon us.
It was rain! Rain and lots of it!
A sudden shower of a summer monsoon was upon us and we were drenched in seconds.

There was lighting and fast breaks of thunder with this pounding rain beating us as we scurried back to the temple to take shelter.
We were safe and sound under the protection of the temples roof. There we took rest talking over the events that were happening before us.
I pulled out some granola bars giving one to Hiro as we waited out the rain.

It was coming down hard, very hard but we peacefully ate drank some water and had a nice discussion.
30 minutes later just as the rain was letting up we started getting ready to take off!
I was mounting the gopro on my chest mount when I looked up to a mid aged women hovering over Hiro.
In a fury of a panic I shouted watch out!!!!!!!

Hiro jumped out of his britches and spat at me, " What's the matter?"
He thought there was a big bumble bee above him.
But I told him there was a lady hovering about you!

Hiro and I were in disbelief as the lady was gone.
I had no idea how she got there or how she disappeared.
The ancient temple we were sitting at is a site in-between the Japanese Tori where the sprits of lost souls are said to wonder.

Hrio and got ready and made ourselves comfortable to ride home.
He doesn't believe me and I don't thing my imagination is false but I don't believe in Ghost as haunting sprits ready to kill people.
I believe if there are sprits here walking the earth they are here to show us the path of a new life.
A new beginning or teach us the route we shall embark upon through our journey in life.

Hiro Im very sorry for scaring you, but I saw what I saw and cant change what my eyes see.
Please enjoy this video as a gift from me to  you to brighten the world as a happy place.

Two for the price of one!

08:45 a.m.: time to lower the Talas R to 110mm and turn the RP23's switch to ProPedal mode, and off I go, climbing Agua Retorta's mountain to have a fairly stress free downhill section.

After that I had only time to pedal back home, switch bikes and take the Dune to Rasta trail; a little more pedaling and a nice run down the trail!

Amazing Sunday morning!
